In the U.S., half of all kids miss out on extracurricular activities. Why? Most classes don’t offer a sponsorship program to make them accessible for everyone. While nonprofits can receive donations, small businesses often can’t, leaving lower-income children underserved. Our mission is to bridge this gap.

Our software connects families, providers, and donors, bringing them together to ensure every child can access extracurricular activities and unlock their potential. Here’s how it works:

How the program works for providers:

  1. List your activity on Village.com
  2. Wait for approval. After publishing, your listing can take up to 72 business hours to appear on the marketplace. During that time our team will review your activity and assess its eligibility for the scholarship program, following Village's Promotion Policy. You’ll know your activity is approved when you see the “Check for Scholarship” button on your activity page.
  3. Collect registrations. Once approved, every customer can apply for a scholarship before signing up. When a family receives a scholarship, they purchase it at a discount while you still get paid as if they were charged the full price. To prevent bias, you won’t know which customers received scholarships. Orders on your end will reflect the full price, even when scholarships were applied.

How the program works for families:

  1. Find an activity you love. Go to Village.com and look for an activity. If it’s part of our scholarships program, you’ll see the “Check for Scholarship” button on the activity page.
  2. Apply before signing up. Click the “Check for Scholarship” button and fill up our quick application form. Our system will automatically assess your application and let you know the discount amount you’ve received. You’ll see the final amount to pay before deciding to sign up. Funds will be reserved for you for 24 hours, so take your time to meditate if you want to continue with the registration process.
  3. Sign up and enjoy! The activity provider will never know if you were granted a scholarship.

Important things to know before applying for a scholarship:

  • Freedom to choose: Even after applying for a scholarship, you’re not obligated to complete the registration. If you decide not to attend the activity—whether or not you receive the scholarship—you can simply choose not to register. Receiving a scholarship does not automatically enroll you in the activity.
  • Scholarship specificity: Scholarships are specific to the learner and activity you selected. If you change the learner or switch activities, you’ll need to reapply for a scholarship. You can check for scholarships as many times as you like and reapply whenever needed.
  • Updating your application: If you need to change any of the responses on your scholarship application, please contact us.
  • Limited availability: Unfortunately, scholarship funds are limited, and Village cannot guarantee that every applicant will receive a scholarship.

How is the Village Scholarships Program funded?

Thanks to donations received through The Village Project, we can fund the Village Scholarships program. If you are interested in becoming a contributor reach out or donate via thevillageproject.org. 100% of your donation goes to kids*.

*Every penny of your donation funds kids’ attendance to activities, with no deductions for salaries or operational costs — with the exception of a minimal payment processing fee. This fee is 3-4% for card payments or 0.8% (up to a maximum of $5) for ACH payments. See it for yourself here.
